The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 18:21 “death and life are in the power of the tongue and he that loveth shall eat the fruit thereof.” What one says is powerful. I have said it before that words are the ultimate boomerang and they are. The words one speaks are life or death to his or her life. Often one uses more words against or in reference to others not realizing that the words are harmful to the speaker as well.
What one speaks is a reflection of what is in their heart and the way one’s mind operates. One cannot speak about anything without revealing something about who he or she is, the way he or she processes information and so forth. From one’s language you can find out how petty, how mature, how forgiving, how trusting a person is or is not. The assumption one makes about others the things one will accuse another of and the expectations are just a few ways that people reveal his or herself to the world.
Be wise about how your words are spoken. The words one speaks prepares the road for the actions one will take. Have you ever spoken about a situation from a place of ignorance? You know said these famous words, “I WILL NEVER”, or “IF IT WERE ME”,; without fulling knowing a situation or the situations to come that one may be involved. Once the words are spoken and the more they are spoken one will find his or herself living up to words that don’t really mean anything. Without an effective combination of knowledge and experience some words one speaks are pointless and without merit because they are without a basis. It’s easy to say what wouldn’t do without any experience in a situation but the truth is one can never be certain until he or she has walked in those shoes.
Being a slave to words makes one vulnerable to the things they say in ignorance. Instead of growing through experience and knowledge too many people feel the need to live up to some kind of honor of things said before one grew or learned. It seems to be more important to NOT change rather than to change and mature past thoughts and sayings. It is this same kind of talking that keeps a woman who is married thinking like a single woman or one who should have matured in Christ to thinking on the level of a babe in Christ. Truth is one should always grow past their original thoughts, ideas and concepts. To think the say way for years isn’t wisdom its not that one is perfected in his or her thinking; it is the ignorance at its finest.
Don’t hold yourself hostage to things you have said in the past. If you are a person of growth, a person of purpose and a person of promise the thoughts you had before will not be the same ones that lead you into destiny. The greatest growth one can have is the ability to change, to amend your thoughts based on your current knowledge and experience!
