#2 of the Tithing Promises: FIGHTING POVERTY ON MY BEHALF

Malachi 3:10-11, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and 1) pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.  2) And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and 3) he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; 4) neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.”

2) AND I WILL REBUKE THE DEVOURER FOR YOUR SAKES!  What’s eating up your money?  Why aren’t you able to break the cycle of from paycheck to paycheck?  What keeps or prevents you from prospering?  Are thing always popping up and causing you to be off your budget?

Things don’t really just pop up not all the time.  Occasionally emergencies happen but 8 out of 10 times the emergency isn’t the cause of financial disarray it’s the spending out of control that causes one to have multiple emergencies.  Lights, gas, water in danger of disconnection doesn’t constitute an emergency unless you recently loss your job; but for those working and seemingly unable to catch up or get ahead then check your spending, your priorities, your planning, your budgeting and so forth.   Been there done that!  Blamed the world, my boss, the cost of living for spending or purchasing my wants and begging or hoping for my needs; it’s the cycle of poverty and poverty doesn’t break until you work to break it.

Rebuking the devourer for my sake?!  Yes it’s the second promise of tithing.  Here lies the assurance that my tithing will not be in vain!  God will rebuke those things that eat up your money.  However that’s not the same thing as stopping you from wasting your funds.  Let’s be clear.   As a tither, when we literally didn’t make enough to stray from a budget at all, God did keep things going for us.  Late fees dropped, stopped things from happening to us; but when I started spending what I didn’t have because I was tithing and thought the check would just get caught?!  At that point I became the devourer!

#2 is for everyone who says “I can’t afford to tithe.”  God wants you to know you can’t afford NOT to tithe!  Not to give HIM HIS FIRST!  You don’t give after you paid the bills and you don’t tip HIM, you are in covenant with HIM and in turn God honors HIS promises to you!

YES HE WILL REBUKE THE DEVOURER FOR YOUR SAKE!  Don’t become the devourer!

Keep tithing, keep giving, keep planting all in good ground!  Remember EVERYTHING YOU HAVE IS A SEED WAITING TO GROW!
