The tragic events that left five Dallas Police Officers dead has the nation talking.  FINALLY!  Yes, discussions are finally occurring as it relates to the #Blacklivesmatter movement.  Not all the discussions are favorable, some are quite rude, simplicity in nature and full of deceit.  Since the shootings and killing of Dallas Police Officers about a week and half ago, people are focused on words.  Image that?!  Somehow people have decided that the movement of #Blacklivesmatter implies that other lives do not.  So their idea of (and by their (the mainstream media specifically, Fox News) changing words means dropping an entire movement by saying #Alllivesmatter or changing it to #Bluelivesmatter.

Of course there isn’t any mention of why the movement is critical to the Black Community, people ignore the fact that the “Blue” lives that they feel protect and serve have been a source of terrorism in the Black Community for years.

The #Blacklivesmatter movement began specifically to bring awareness to the unjust system of policing in America.  So the words were chosen carefully and speak volumes.  We’ve always known that words matter and mainstream media knows it as well and uses words to create a false sense of who we are as Black Americans.  Words have mattered since these were written in the Constitution concerning slaves, which were predominantly Black People: “Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.   ARTICLE I, SECTION 2, CLAUSE 3

Listen to the way we are described in mainstream media, referred to as ‘thugs’, guilty until proven innocent, and our peaceful protest are always considered ‘riots.  We are dangerous even when unarmed, shot, harassed and when we speak up or out about it, people have the audacity to say somehow it was still our fault.  Somehow we as Black Americans did something, said something, acted a certain way and are to blame for the deaths we experience each year at the hands of the police.  NOT TRUE!

The words spoken about us as a people have become the normal thought about all of us.  With Facebook, we are able to see, hear and witness those up close who really never knew us at all.  It’s common to hear, “oh you’re not like them”, who my people? What does that even mean? There again, WORDS!

It’s frustrating to live in an America you built and always find yourself having to explain your culture that is copied/imitated repeatedly but yet discriminated simultaneously when you express it; or being bullied to remain silent about the criminal behavior exercised against our community.

So a movement of support for the countless victims who have been shot and killed at the hands of police #Blacklivesmatter is being blamed for any and everything.  The officers killed in Dallas and now even in Baton Rouge have one thing in common, their killers are both deceased and of course justice has been served for their families.

However, the victims who have died at the hands of police are left to mourn, hurt and suffer and of course, White America wants them to do it silently.  Silently, silence the same way that they are silent about the killings of black unarmed men.  Words matter, phrases matter, so when you say: “I don’t want to get involved”, “I don’t know the whole story”, “maybe he had a record”, “the police wouldn’t have killed him if he was innocent”, “stop looking suspicious” and I could go on and on but the truth is the lack of words against the senseless violence or attack on the Black Community speaks LOUDER, CLEARER AND STRONGER than anything.

Words matter and my narrative will ring loud and clear.  #Blacklivesmatter  Until America begins to live up to her words:  “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Words do matter and so we continue to say, push, promote, protest and fight! #Blacklivesmatter  My narrative will NOT CHANGE
