TIME & MONEY….Self Control ova Procrastination

time-is-money

Much like the subject is in the Bible, money is something that one can probably NEVER grow tired or discussing.  Everyone pretends that they don’t like talking about it, but nevertheless it comprises 90% of our conversation.  EVERYTHING one does or desires hinges on the subject.  You can’t plan vacation, build a business, select a home or decide to spend the rest of your life with someone without discussing money!  Money provides options!  You can’t even make a difference in the world without money! Mission trips require financial backing!  I could go on, but I think the point has been made.  The thing is, money is important but not just money but the usage of it determines its value.

Time & Money are nothing without management.  If you lay a pile of money beside a watch or a clock you have both time and money which are doing nothing.  Both of these elements are important but they must be combined with something to become valuable!  When time and money collide, there is opportunity!

How or what becomes of that opportunity has a lot to do with the management of both, time and money.  When time and money collide consistently that is potential power and powerful people are disciplined people at least disciplined in terms of managing time and money! Allow me to explain, remember time and money alone accomplish nothing but in the hands of a person with self-discipline becomes opportunity and the ability to capitalize on opportunity breeds more opportunity and eventually making the person who seized the opportunities not just wealthy but powerful!

Procrastinators lack discipline and/or management.  The hardest person for one to control is his or herself and that’s why we spend so much time trying to control others. The ability to control one’s self allows one to be productive and actually accomplish the goals set.  It’s not easy because people that you love and/or love you, the colleagues and just friends are always pulling at these valuable resources of time and money as well as heart strings.

Additionally, people tend to run at the pace of those around us, so if the people around you run slow or waste time, habitually their pattern becomes your pattern. Breaking away from cycles or patterns is never easy and that’s why the challenge is always to have a good balance of people in your life, those that impart wisdom, those on your level and those that you impart wisdom to.  Having too much of either can leave one stifled.

Self-control can be obtained without condemning yourself or taking drastic measures it’s a matter of balance.  People that win the battle over procrastination do so by planning!

  1. PLAN YOUR TIME! – It’s harder to waste time when you have planned it! When you have decided exactly what will be accomplished, it becomes a harder task to ignore your time or was your time.  It makes one become more conscience of the things he or she is doing and with whom he or she is spending time with.
  2. DO THINGS ON PURPOSE – Things do not halfway! There aren’t any magical fairies that are coming to make things happen. There are little things to do and larger things to do; do both!  Most people focus on the long-term results because they can delay them (procrastination) and ignore the little things that can and must be done along the way, the little things make all the difference!
  3. BE CONSISTENT –  Resist the urge to overachieve or makeup for lost time.  Self-control is all about trusting yourself to do the process.  Anyone can jump in or dive in and so something all at once but it is the strategic battle of balancing time and money that makes the venture last for more than a minute!
  4. BALANCE IS KEY –  Remember to find your balance and stay there.  Again drastic changes often leave you feeling overwhelmed! For example a person going from saving none of his or her money to trying to save 50% of their check!  NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Balance and process…..small dosages to get to the larger picture!

Procrastination robs one of their time now and their future earnings! To manage your time and your money is the difference between having a legacy to leave and leaving nothing for your future generations.
