I am that person who can find inspiration in multiple things. When the discussions began about “reality” TV, I didn’t know what to think about it and wasn’t sure I would like it but I must say I am a huge fan. Some of the images are hard to watch and quite disappointing, however the disappointment lies in that some of the images are and can be true.
NO! Not all black women cuss people out or throw drinks but miscommunication and arguing occur in any relationship that involves women. We are emotional creatures and too often those emotions don’t allow us to think before we speak or even to listen to what the other person is even saying while in the midst of an argument. How many times in watching reality TV have you screamed or wanted to scream at the TV, ‘SHUT UP AND LISTEN’! I know I have. Then there is the loud voice, the voice lacking reason.
As I watched one of my guilty pleasure shows, I was so tickled by what happened at the end. However it wasn’t that one part of the show it was the show in general and some of the things that have been portrayed on the show. Men, (Flip Wilson, Martin Payne, Rickey Smiley and Tyler Perry) have all dressed up as women and in those roles said meaningful things about women to women and still nothing. Steve Harvey took it to another level and wrote an entire book laying out the game men play and how as women we allow them to play it and yet still we find the truth is the more things change the more they stay the same. It doesn’t matter what a woman says it’s what she does! It’s quite disturbing to know that some women still think that it’s all about material things and are willing to do whatever to get those material things.
I say keep watching reality TV shows because in each of them there is a little real and that real is being played out so that one can learn by example. Just because your situation isn’t on TV doesn’t make it any better, it’s still reality. Learn from what you see and change the way you view yourself and then men will change the way they view you!
