LEADERSHIP CHRONICLES: DANGERS OF FOLLOWING THE WRONG LEADER

In a previous post, the discussion was made about leadership and its hierarchy.  The post continues in talking about following the right leader.  In any large organization, corporation there are leaders who serve under the leadership.  And while an organization may not begin large, a successful one will grow large and rightly so.  With so many leaders how do you know which to follow?  Follow the vision, the head the leadership.

Any person chosen for leadership is anointed or should be anointed to lead.  This person has a presence and other qualities that allow people to follow him or her.  The key is that leader understanding his/her role as a leader, the hierarchy of leadership, what is proper, what’s not.  It is tempting when in leadership to want to gain more and more power, influence and affluence.  Doing it in the wrong way, the wrong time is everything!  Motives play a key role as well.  If a leader’s real desire is what is best for the big picture, he or she will do things decently and in order.  It requires leaders following the leadership, the set order of the house.  Before I lose you, let’s have an example.

Saints roll call!  In any church there are leaders who serve under the direction of the Pastor or Senior Pastor who is the head leader in the church.  There are the deacons, associate ministers, Sunday school teachers, choir director, mothers of the church, those who serve on the board and in other capacities.  Every leader has a unique perspective of things from his or her point of view but in order for the church to serve purpose all leadership must align under the direction of the head.  It doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for creativity or new ideas but it does mean that in the event things cannot be agreed on the decision of the head is final and each leader serving under him or her must be able to lead effectively without bias or anger according to the decisions the head makes.  For so many it’s hard and that’s where the enemy steps in to destroy.

A good leader should always understand three things: 1) timing 2) order and 3) wisdom.  Timing is everything! Even a good idea at the wrong time can destroy rather than build.  2) God’s order of authority is absolute and when you submit to order, God will always deal with the head if he or she is wrong.   3) Wisdom, every good idea has to be implemented at the right time in the right manner and as a leader serving under leadership; you may or may not receive credit and that’s where motive is crucial.

Following the wrong leader can be detrimental.  He or she will take you so far and leave you for dead because his or her anointing, calling or position will not allow him or her to go farther than he or she knows.  Be careful in your roles as leaders and followers.  Be mindful, be inquisitive.  Seek for understanding rather than justification and look for the big picture.

There are always things that the Head can see that even leadership under the head cannot envision.  It was created this way.

Finally this break of leadership and power shouldn’t be a surprise for it is this same kind of thinking which lead to the fall of satan.  he (satan) desired to be in a position or which he was neither; anointed or called.
